What Makes Us Unique?
Our team has secured and maintained a high rating under the National Quality Standards since 2014. We are a smaller service providing care for 56 children per day aged six weeks, up to school age across four age groupings.
6 Weeks To 2 Years
(Nursery)
15 Months to 3 Years
(Toddlers)
2 Years To 3 Years
(Junior Kindy)
3 years to 6 years
(Preschool/Government approved Kindergarten Program)
Each age group overlaps in age so that we can allow children to develop within an age appropriate space, at a developmental level that is tailored to them as individuals.
We have a team of highly qualified, dedicated and experienced long-term Educators working together to deliver high quality, play based, educational programs to young children. Being a small service gives us the opportunity to individualise our care to each family and provide each age group their own space to learn and play.
OUR INCLUSIVE PROGRAMS
We encourage children to contribute to our planning and programming by expressing their interests and creativity through play and discussion. We encourage sibling interactions and run ‘Random acts of kindness’ where our Kindergarten students prepare and deliver small meals to the younger age groups. Room routines reflect the needs of each age group and remain flexible all year round.
In Nursery and Toddlers, we work closely with families to provide consistency of care from home to child care, sharing daily updates on milestones and developmental achievements so we can best support each baby individually. In all other age groups, the Children are encouraged to follow routines that help to prepare them for the next age group, and eventually; Big school!
The children’s interest, ideas and requests are the driving force behind our educational programs in each age group and we encourage them to play and learn through a range of experiences that cater to all areas of a child’s development. Our Educators are skilled in scaffolding a child’s interests into a learning opportunity.
Government Approved Kindergarten Program
Our Kindergarten Program runs 5 days per week with a Bachelor Qualified Early Childhood teacher. We engage our local primary schools to ensure we are supporting the children’s transition to school to a high standard. Once per term the Kindergarten children walk down to MtGravatt East Primary school to engage in ‘Prep transition sessions’ where the children are guided by Prep buddies for a 2-hour morning session. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend these excursions with us, so they can learn about the Primary school system and how it will impact and benefit their child’s early education.

Physikids Sport Program

Grasshoppers Soccer

Happy Feet Fitness

Bush Kindy
We include our community in our service operations in many ways. We run extracurricular activities each week including Physi Kids Sport, Happy Feet music and movement and Grasshoppers Soccer. We include community events in our yearly calendar and monthly incursions support these themes and celebrations year-round.
Throughout the year our parents and extended families are invited in to the centre for celebrations and our open-door policy extends this invitation to families year-round. Our good friends at Itty Bitty Stars visit us every term to deliver an educational show on topics such as Super Safety awareness (child protection) and body awareness (health and dental).
We have an embedded environmental awareness element in our Program which provides the children opportunities to learn everything from caring for worms, tumbling compost and maintaining plants to learning about the importance of their role as individuals to make good, healthy, water wise, safe and ethical choices that positively impact our community and our world.
We have made gardening displays and a watering can man for our local community garden in Mount Gravatt and donate our worm tea fertiliser to the gardens, to our families, friends and neighbours. Our centre is culturally inclusive and celebrates traditions from all around the world, we invite members of our community into our services throughout the year to help us unpack culture in an age appropriate way through song, dance, art and creative expression. Our families and Educators cultures are included in our programs through discussion, photos and displays and our diverse team of Educators teach the children about culture and language from all around the world.
Meet Our Manager
Jessie Marriott
Mt Gravatt East Director
My name is Jessie, and I’m the Centre Director at Active Kid Mt Gravatt. I have over eight years of experience in childcare and have worked over four years to Active Kids. Throughout my journey, I have embraced nearly every role, starting as a centre cook and advancing to my current position as Centre Director.
I firmly believe that every family and child deserves a warm, welcoming environment where educators receive the support they need to excel, enabling every child to flourish.
As a mother of four, I understand the importance of cultivating strong relationships with families. As the saying goes, “it takes a village.” I recognize that when families entrust us with their children each day, we become a vital part of that village, helping set children up for future success and a smooth transition to school.
